Copywriting

What makes someone click on something and read it, or do more than scan a piece of direct mail? It could be an intriguing headline, a crazy statistic, a provocative statement. The trick is attracting attention, and creating a compelling narrative that people want to read more about.

Storytelling is a craft. Where I can help is by identifying an angle or topic, and then writing copy that will engage and inspire your target audience, whether they’re reading a blog, a Facebook post, an article or news release.

Sometimes you just need a writer to relay technical information in a way that is easily understood with little or no jargon. Sometimes you just want to give your brand a consistent tone of voice and personality, throughout a website for example, or animation.

Search engines are constantly trawling websites for original content so it’s important to keep refreshing them with new and interesting blogs rather than rehashes of previously published material. Site visitors easily click away if companies don’t get to the point quickly. And strategically placing keywords in site content is vital in maintaining interest and improving SEO.

Bad grammar, poor spelling, lengthy prose, unclear messages can all alienate a reader so it’s important to pay attention to what’s written.

If you’re investing in any kind of marketing material, from brochures to websites, you need to ensure your tone of voice reflects your brand and includes all the messages you want to communicate.

My writing skills have been used to create copy for marcomms material like articles, case studies, literature, blogs, email campaigns, advertorials, even winning entries for awards.
